Standing In His Presence

George Washington’s Vision of 1777

The VisionGeorge Washington at Valley Forge

This afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire the cause of her presence. A second, a third and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes.

By this time I felt strange sensations spreading through me. I would have risen but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, as though it had become paralyzed.

The Inhibited Mind

THERE IS TODAY a very strange approach to truth. Black versus white thinking is not the vogue today. Gray thinking is. We began to observe this in the middle fifties.

Something is inhibiting the minds of men, something they cannot readily explain, something they feel and assume, namely, that one cannot be too sure about anything in the realm of morals and religion! To some degree this affects us all, believers as well as unbelievers.

Man’s approach to truth tends to be on the basis of synthesis rather than antithesis, i.e., mixture rather than opposites. The result is an aversion to dogma and absolutes.

The mind is exposed in the Scriptures as a marvelous thing yet a part of man’s fallen nature. The Bible shows us not only what the natural mind thinks, but how it thinks.

The slanting of the mind has always been an effective work of Satan. Paul warned the Christians about the ever present danger that their minds be corrupted.

This combination of circumstances, the current brainwashing plus Satanic influence, causes uncertainty to lurk in the mind on every subject, with the possible exception of certain scientific disciplines.

The Finished

Finished
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James 1:21 KJV

James, writing to Spirit-filled, born-again believers, told them that yes, that they needed to be saved.  That’s right, they needed salvation in their souls.

When we are born-again, made new by the Holy Ghost, we are born-again in our spirits, not our souls.  The Holy Spirit, God Himself, comes into our inner most being, further inside than our soul, and makes us new–we are ‘born again’.  But, that does not make our souls or our bodies born-again in the least.

Matthew 13 – The Parables of the Kingdom

William Hole Jesus teaching crowds on a high plain
The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Luke 6:40

For the casual observer, the parables of Matthew 13 seem fairly straight-forward. The Kingdom of Heaven is compared with several pictures from every day life, such as planting seeds, leavening bread, finding a good deal, and fishing. Indeed, to a child, these parables would seem, nearly, to be the simplest explanation of how the Kingdom of Heaven operated, and yet, there yet exists a body of thought that disagrees. In discussing this difference with a friend of mine, his response was straight-forward: You need to go to Seminary to learn things like that. It wasn’t flattering of Seminaries, either.

The problem presented with the parables are precisely what are mentioned on both studies of these issues. Are the things that Jesus is describing about the Kingdom good things, or are they bad? What is the scope? And, how could a thing such leaven be described as good?
Examination of these things, however, must be in the light of Luke 6:40, above. Jesus said, in Matthew 12:28, “But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.”. To Jesus, the presence of the Kingdom (not the Kingdom itself, mind you) was proved by his mighty works. The Kingdom of Heaven, in all the cases Jesus talked about, was a good thing.

capital-bPlease feel free to check out http://www.BeyondRevelation.com, a look at the subject of the End Times.

This is not the typical IHOP-KC approach to the subject of the end times, and in no wise do we wish to be seen in competition with anyone’s view on the subject.  However, after quite some time of study, the conclusions we have reached, despite earnest inquiry even of IHOP-KC instructors and leadership staff are what they are.

Psalm 149

shield-of-faithMay the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,

Psalm 149:6

Some have laid claim to the idea that this is somehow, primarily, an End Times Psalm.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Failure to recognize the power and authority of the Kingdom leads one to bad exegesis.  Remember, Peter was said to have the Keys of the Kingdom, and could bind and lose at will (and, hence, as a body, so do we).  These are the already bound things in heaven, so it is the execution of the written judgments spoken of.  Again, whether this is a prophecy of what was to come, or then experience of the tabernacle worshippers that was entirely a foreshadowing of the church age is also in question.  It seems clear that the singers literally did this in their worship to God at the time, and, because David’s tent was a prophetic picture of the New Covenant, it is what we do every time we lift high praises to God.

Blessed Are The Meek

lambBlessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5

Jesus was the Word made flesh, the very image of the invisible God.  Yet, He became one as of no reputation, and walked among His own creation, as one of them.

For the believer, we have the righteousness of Christ.  We are set apart, holy, and sanctified, given a new nature at regeneration when we believe and are born again.  So much so that Paul states we are a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17).

How to Biblically Confront the Current False Grace Heresies

Update (5/9/2014):

We have recently put together a short book available on Amazon related to confronting the hyper-grace issues in the church today, as summarized here. In this new 200+ page book, we cover topics such as the “Words in Red”, many of the false-grace heresies in circulation today, including inclusion, as well as solid Scriptural support for the truth.

Additionally, because there is a great interest in this topic, and the subject is urgent in many people’s lives, if you cannot purchase one or have any other reason, we have made the entire contents of the book available via PDF online as well.

If you would like more information, please click
here.

Additionally, feel free to check out our other articles on the topic of Hyper-Grace.

target-and-arrowThe best way to debate anything is the Word.  The Word is sufficient.  The Word is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.  Anything you need to defend or define must have as its ultimate authority to be God, through His Word, or it will always end in the shifting sands of opinion.

However, when it comes to certain groups, because their doctrine is so far beleaguered and strays so far from the truth of the Word, because its source is still rather narrow, whenever you debate with them, they more or less follow the same basic script.  That’s right.  They don’t rely on the full counsel of the Word, they use a few texts, here or there, pulled and shifted out well beyond reason, and, if you know where they’re trying to go, you stay out of their predictable traps.

AW Tozer Prophecy

Emmanual_Church_of_Boston_steepleLet me go out on a limb a little bit and prophesy. I see the time coming when all the holy men whose eyes have been opened by the Holy Spirit will desert worldly Evangelicalism, one by one. The house will be left desolate and there will not be a man of God, a man in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, left among them…

I hear Jesus saying…Mat 23:37-38: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not! Behold, your house is left to you desolate

As the Church now stands, the man who sees this condition of worldly evangelicalism is written off as somewhat fanatical. But the day is coming when the house will be left desolate and there will not be a man of God among them. I would like to live long enough to watch this develop and see how things turn out. I would like to live to see the time when the men and woman of God – holy, separated and spiritually enlightened – walk out of the evangelical church and form a group of their own; when they get off the sinking ship and let her go down in the brackish and worldliness and form a new ark to ride out the storm.

I Thank My God

baptism_tonguesI thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

1 Corinthians 14:18

Ever wonder how we can obey 1 Thessalonians 5:17 when it says that we should “Pray without ceasing”?  One way to do it is to pray in tongues.  Paul also wrote,

I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.

1 Corinthians 15:18 (portion)

When we pray in tongues, we build up our inner man.  It says that we speak mysteries unto God.  In fact, one form of prophecy is tongues with interpretation!
